Non-Gaming Revenues for Major Las Vegas Casinos

Since non-gaming revenue has become so important on the Las Vegas Strip, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Center for Gaming Research has been compiling data on revenue outside of the casino since 2004. An informative report they publish each year includes all income from the property as a percentage of total revenue.

The chart at left is for the “big” Las Vegas resorts (with gaming revenue in excess of $ 72 million). The “other” column is largely entertainment and retail. The percentages are the total of revenue that the departments retain after paying their expenses—the departmental margin. The departmental income numbers aren’t “profit” because a number of expenses (including utilities, taxes, corporate payroll and interest) remain.
